SOAP Before SOAP: How 1990–1994 Shaped the Idea of Formal Web Service Contracts
In the early Web (1990–1994), HTTP interfaces were informal, human-oriented, and contract-light—yet the pressure to standardize inputs and outputs was already visible. This chapter explains how those first patterns foreshadowed SOAP and formal web service contracts that arrived later.
